3) Write a short music video treatment for your extract (this is basically a script for your music video). You can find an example of a treatment here. If you are making your real coursework then feel free to use the treatment from your summer project.

In the opening 30 seconds of the music video for "Tik Tok" by Kesha, i set the scene with a vibrant and energetic party atmosphere. The video starts with a shot of a clock striking midnight, signaling the start of a wild night. Kesha bursts into a colorful room filled with flashing lights and a group of friends getting ready for a night out. As the beat drops, the video cuts to Kesha singing along to the catchy chorus in a bath tub. The fast-paced editing captures the excitement and carefree spirit of the song, making viewers want to join in on the fun.  The first 30 seconds set the stage for a night of adventure and fun, drawing viewers into Kesha's world of unapologetic self-expression and celebration.

4) Write a shot list containing EVERY shot you plan to film AND additional shots to create flexibility when editing (in a music video you will find you need FAR more shots than you think, particularly close-ups). These additional shots can be close-ups, alternative angles or something more creative. I advise using a simple table on Microsoft Word/Google Docs to set out your shot list - you can find an example here (this is from narrative filmmaking but the same format can be used for any video project)

In the first 30 seconds of the music video for "Tik Tok" by Kesha, the shot list can be tailored to capture the fast-paced and energetic vibe of the song:

1. Close-up of a clock striking midnight, setting the scene for the night ahead.
2. Quick cuts of Kesha getting ready, applying bold makeup and styling her hair such as close up of her looking at the mirror and close up  on the toothbrush.
3. Group shot such as birds eyes view of Kesha and friends cheering and toasting to the start of the party.
4.  Close-up of empty water bottle and shoe.
5. Flashing lights, vibrant colors, and energetic dance sequences to enhance the party atmosphere.

5) Plan your mise-en-scene: what iconography are you including to ensure your audience understands the genre and style of your artist? Plan your settings, costume, make-up, props and lighting.

To establish the genre and style of Kesha in the music video for "Tik Tok" within the first 30 seconds, the mise-en-scène can be carefully planned:

Settings:
- A vibrant, colorful bedroom filled with flash lights and quirky decorations to reflect a party atmosphere.
- Transition to a lively, crowded party scene with flashing lights and energetic dance moves.

Costume:
- Kesha in a bold, edgy outfit with glittery elements and statement accessories.

Make-up:
- Kesha with dramatic, glittery eye makeup and bold lip color to enhance her unique style.

Props:
- empty water bottle
- Party drinks, and cake to enhance the party aesthetic.

Lighting:
- Bright, colorful lighting to create a lively and dynamic atmosphere, emphasizing the party mood.
- Use of flash lights and strobe effects to enhance the energetic and vibrant feel of the video.

By incorporating these elements into the mise-en-scène of the music video, the audience can quickly grasp the genre and style of Kesha, setting the tone for a fun and energetic visual experience from the start.

6) Plan a shooting schedule that will ensure everything is filmed by the deadline. Include when, where, who is required, planned equipment and any other aspects you need to arrange.

Sunday early in the morning as it matches the theme of the music video.

The video's vibrant colors, energetic choreography, and eclectic fashion choices mirror the song's message of unapologetically embracing one's unique style and attitude. Furthermore, the music video for "Tik Tok" by Kesha showcases the power of music and visuals in creating a cultural phenomenon. By incorporating elements of party culture, individuality, and youthful exuberance, the video not only entertained but also inspired a generation to embrace their inner wild child and celebrate their uniqueness.

In my statement of intent, I aim to analyse how Kesha's "Tik Tok" music video transcends conventional pop music visuals by infusing it with a sense of liberation and empowerment. By dissecting the video's cinematography, editing techniques, and thematic elements, I intend to explore how Kesha's artistic vision aligns with contemporary cultural values of self-expression, authenticity, and living in the moment. Through this analysis, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of music videos on shaping societal norms and influencing individual perceptions of identity and freedom.

Ultimately, my statement of intent regarding Kesha's "Tik Tok" music video seeks to celebrate the convergence of music, visuals, and storytelling in creating a transformative and empowering artistic experience. By delving into the themes, aesthetics, and cultural implications of the video, I aim to showcase how Kesha's creative vision transcends the boundaries of traditional pop music, inspiring audiences to embrace their individuality, dance to their own beat, and boldly step into the spotlight of their lives. Besides the vibrant visuals and empowering themes, Kesha's "Tik Tok" music video also cleverly incorporates elements of humor and satire. The video's playful and exaggerated scenes, such as Kesha brushing her teeth with a bottle of Jack Daniels, add a comedic touch that resonates with audiences and enhances the overall entertainment value. Additionally, the video's juxtaposition of glamorous party scenes with mundane everyday activities creates a sense of relatability and humor, making it more engaging and memorable for viewers. By exploring these layers of humor and satire in the music video, we can appreciate how Kesha skillfully blends fun and frivolity with deeper messages of self-empowerment and individuality.

When it comes to a statement of intent regarding Kesha's music video on TikTok, i might want to focus on the following aspects related to the demographic and psychographics:

Demographics: Identify the primary audience for Kesha's music, which typically includes younger listeners, particularly those aged 16-30. This group is often characterized by a mix of genders, with a strong representation of female fans. For  geographic factors, Kesha has a global fanbase but is particularly popular in the United States and Western countries.

Psychographics: Explore the values, interests, and lifestyle choices of Kesha's audience. This demographic often values self-expression, empowerment, and creativity, resonating with Kesha's themes of individuality and freedom. They are likely to be active on social media platforms like TikTok, where they engage with trends, participate in challenges, and share their own creative content. This audience is also inclined towards music that promotes fun, party culture, and emotional authenticity.

When we look at Kesha's "Tik Tok" music video through the lens of media theories, we can see how it aligns with the concept of Stuart Hall's Encoding/Decoding model. In this model, the producer (Kesha and the video creators) encodes the message of the video with certain meanings and symbols. The humorous and exaggerated scenes, like Kesha brushing her teeth with a bottle of Jack Daniels, are encoded to convey a sense of rebellion and carefree attitude. However, the viewers (decoders) might interpret these symbols differently based on their own experiences and cultural background. Some might see it as a humorous exaggeration, while others might perceive it as a statement on party culture or individuality. This theory highlights the dynamic interaction between media producers and audiences, showing how messages can be interpreted in various ways based on personal context and cultural influences. By linking the "Tik Tok" music video to the Encoding/Decoding model, we can gain insights into how media texts are constructed, disseminated, and interpreted by audiences, shaping our understanding of popular culture and societal norms.

3) Write a paragraph discussing how your presentation will lead into your actual coursework production. Do you need to update your statement of intent? Does your concept offer enough clarity? Is it appropriate for the audience specified in the brief? Is it achievable to film with the resources you have available? Can you add media terminology or theory to your statement of intent now you have reflected on your presentation and seen others?

my presentation will lead into my actual coursework production as it will help me improve my coursework. When i present my work, i get a chance to showcase my credibility and hard work, because it allows me to receive feedback from my peers and teacher, which can help me identify areas of improvement and refine my skills. For example i need to add theories to my presentation to link it back to my production and to write more for my statement of intent to reach 500 or more  to get more marks. Doing this enhances my communication skills and confidence in discussing my project to the class.
